Storms, Clouds and Total Lunar Eclipses
Wow! What a day! I've been busy the past few days shovelling plenty of snow both for myself and a housing complex in town, and then spending my evenings trying to heal these sore, tired muscles! The Colorado low that flew by on Thursday night left the area in rough shape. The low split before it headed east and part of it stayed behind to cause extra havoc and now lake effect snows are pummeling regions just north of here. In the Bruce Pennisula area over 5,000 people were reported to be without power due to downed trees, limbs and ice encrusted wires. Some people won't be hooked up with power until early next week.
Today also marked a total lunar eclipse that was to be visible in south western Ontario - well that depended on the clouds and our region was covered in them through the entire phenomena which has pretty well completed the cycle at the time of writing. Next total lunar eclipse is in August - it will be visible in western Canada - provided there are no clouds obscuring the vision. This must be the month for eclipses; on the 19th there will ba a partial solar eclipse!
In 17 days we'll be able to celebrate the Spring Equinox and weather predictions here show a warming trend starting after the 6th. The knowledge spring and warmer weather aren't far off is always a welcome thought, in particular when we've been inundated with real winter weather for the past month.
Current temperature; -3 C with wind chill factored in -9 C, Winds are out of the West, the normal pattern for our area. Humidity 86% and Barometric Pressure is at 100.42 and heading up. We're looking at another few days of snow happening with a general warm up beginning next Friday the 9th.
This blog features information to supplement Our EnchantedGarden.com website with "real-time" information on the state of the garden. We will often include photos, videos or slideshows to highlight the changes along with statistics. We had hoped to include a few images of tonight's lunar eclipse but thick cloud cover prevented us from doing that unfortunately! Looks like it may be as much as a year before I'll get to anticipate trying that again - unless I take a trip out west in August! Depending on our circumstances that might be a fun project!
In the meantime I'll start getting ready to plant up some vegetable and flower seeds indoors - so the seedlings will get a good head-start on their growth before I put them in the greenhouse once outdoor temperatures remain at or above freezing at 0 C! Looking forward to sharing another year of gardening adventures with everyone!
See You Soon!
