Spring Makes it's Mark In The Garden - As Winter Loses It's Grasp!
Spring Is Making it's Mark In The Garden - As Winter Loses It's Grasp!
I managed to get a few nice shots this weekend and will share a few with you tonight and a couple more tomorrow if I'm not called away to a new assignment. The garden is quickly coming uncovered, the snow is melting and shrinking rapidly.
Here's a close and pretty view of the vinca that grows along the walkway. An evergreen groundcover, it emerges from the snow looking vibrant and fresh.
This shot gives a better view of the walkway. The vinca will soon display a carpet of violet-hued flowers that will last until the weather starts to get on the warm side.
This "Chilled Parsley" was planted last fall. It's a very cool-hardy plant that will re-seed itself each year in this part of southwestern Ontario. Handy and easy to dry it's worth growing your own rather than buying dried parsley flakes and in the summer you'll have a good regular supply - just pick it often to keep it actively growing! This parsley "bed" was lightly mulched with dried leaf mulch and over-wintered well.
